The first Cyprus Diaspora Forum, held in March 2024 in Limassol, brought together Cypriots from around the world for a four-day celebration of achievement and connection. FamigliaEight was a partner to the event, contributing significantly with insights, participation and PR.
What the forum set out to do.
- Recognise the significance of the diaspora in promoting Cyprus's culture, economy and innovation.
- Foster stronger relations between Cypriots in Cyprus and the global diaspora through networking, panels and cultural activities.
- Explore collaboration in entrepreneurship, philanthropy and investment, leveraging the diaspora's expertise for Cyprus's benefit.
The forum featured roughly 200 speakers including prominent figures from business, government, academia and civil society. Sessions covered the successes of the diaspora, their role as brand ambassadors, and the value of entrepreneurship in fostering global relations. Our CEO participated in the entrepreneurship panel, sharing insights on brand equity and building business.
Opening and momentum.
The forum kicked off with an exclusive breakfast featuring Limassol Mayor Nicos Nicolaides, who emphasised the diaspora's critical role in building bridges. Speakers including John Christodoulou, Marios Tanousis, Angelos Gregoriou and Thanasis Tsokkos addressed the gathering. At the opening ceremony — graced by the American Ambassador and the Australian High Commissioner — founder Paul Lambis highlighted Cyprus's transformation into a vibrant business hub.
Gala and CYDIA Awards.
The event concluded with a gala dinner attended by more than 350 people, referencing Cyprus traditions and featuring local artists making waves in Europe. The gala included the 1st CYDIA Awards, with the Lifetime Achievement Award given to Tasoula Hadjitofi — 'The Icon Hunter' — renowned worldwide for her work combatting art trafficking and coordinating one of the largest sting operations in European history since WWII.
